The White Plains, NY police officer accused of calling 68 year-old Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. a racial slur in the moments before Chamberlain was fatally shot in his own home by police, has been suspended without pay. Chamberlain’s family has filed a $21 million civil rights lawsuit against the City of White Plains, the White Plains Housing Authority, and eight police officers.

On Friday, July 27th, 30 Occupy Gainesville protesters appeared in court for trespassing arrests that occurred last fall and will be required to return in October after a two-judge panel granted the prosecutors’ request to delay. The hearing is rescheduled for October 30, which will be over a year after the first arrests on October 14.
